Job description:
Our client is now looking to recruit a Nursing Home Manager for their excelle! nt Nursing home facility in Belfast.

The post holder will provide clinical nursing leadership within the nursing home. This includes:

Operational management of the nursing home and its resources.
Clinical expertise through actively promoting a culture of education and practice development.
Guiding, instructing and monitoring professional nursing staff, student nurses, nursing care assistants and all other ancillary staff employed in the home.
Practicing in accordance with NMC codes, statutory requirements and the Nursing Homes Order 2005.

Responsibilities:
To determine and monitor the skill mix of staff to ensure compliance with statutory and budgetary requirements.
To monitor patient care and nursing care standards.
To demonstrate clinical expertise and professional standards of leadership within the field of nursing.
To supervise clinical management, ensuring a patient centred approach to care provision.
To! lead and develop nursing services with in the nursing home.
To actively monitor and control the use of resources within the home and work within budgetary limits.

To contribute to the analysis of staffing requirements against workload activity.

To assist with developing the financial awareness of the team so that individual staff contribute to the efficient use of resources.

To actively seek to fill vacant beds in order to meet budgeted occupancy levels by maintaining a contacts list and following up all enquiries with regards to potential residents.

To maintain professional standards ensuring that standards are continually monitored and corrective action taken where appropriate.

To provide clear instructions and accurate information to all staff.

To compile duty rosters which reflect effective supervision for all grades of staff.
To develop own supervisory skills and professional competence in keeping with P.R.E.P requirements.
To conduct annual staff appraisals.!
To be responsible on a day-to-day basis for the overall management of the nursing home.
To co-ordinate all activities within the home and ensure effective use of home resources.
To promote and enhance patient focused care in the home.
To liaise with statutory bodies such as the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, ensuring compliance with the minimum care standards.
To act as a change agent and innovator promoting an effective change culture in the home.
To ensure adherence to the DHSSPS guidelines for the safe handling administration, storage and custody of drugs and medicinal products

Required experience:
Be registered on the NMC Live Register
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of professional and statutory bodies
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues and tasks involved in the management of a nursing home
Have at least 3 years management experience within a clinical setting in the public or private sec! tor, preferably in working with the elderly.

Desirable Crit! eria:
An understanding of the demands of an intermediate care unit.
