Speciality Doctor in Dermatology The Health Board wishes to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Dermatology to undertake a once weekly skin surgery/biopsy list. The post-holder will be based at Ysbyty Gwynedd, the District General Hospital in Bangor, North Wales. This is a one-session-per-week post for a middle-grade doctor in Dermatology at Ysbyty Gwynedd. It would be ideal for a general practitioner with an interest in dermatological procedures who wishes to work only one session. The appointee will be expected to perform curettage, cautery, punch and incisional skin biopsies, and excisions of benign and malignant lesions under local anaesthetic.

In addition to this post, the Dermatology team consists of two full-time consultants (Dr A W Macfarlane and, currently, a locum), a full-time Speciality Doctor, two general practitioners undertaking three sessions and working at Hospital Practitioner and Speciality Doctor grade respectively, one Senior House Officer, three Specialist Nurses, and a part-time Dermatology Staff Nurse. There is also a specialist registrar (SpR) on an alternate year basis.

Ysbyty Gwynedd is a modern 468 bed District General Hospital sited in the university city of Bangor. It provides a comprehensive range of services to the population of Gwynedd, Anglesey and parts of Conwy in the region of North West Wales. It provides all the disciplines in General Medicine and Surgery in addition to all subspecialties, including an Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Surgical High Dependency Unit and Coronary Care Unit..

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is the largest health organisation in Wales, providing a full range of primary, community, mental health and acute hospital services for a population of around 676,000 people across the six counties of North Wales (Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham) as well as some parts of mid Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.

The Health Board employs around 18,000 staff and has a budget of around £1.1 billion. It is responsible for the operation of three district general hospitals (Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor, Ysbyty Glan Clwyd near Rhyl, and Wrexham Maelor Hospital) as well as 22 other acute and community hospitals, and a network of over 90 health centres, clinics, community health team bases and mental health units. It also coordinates the work of 121 GP practices and NHS services provided by North Wales dentists, opticians and pharmacies.
