Location: Northern Ireland

We are currently recruiting for a Band 5 Social Worker for full time work.

The post will include but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Engage children and families to assess levels or risk, strengths and need
  • Engage with victims and communities to create opportunities for children to make amends
  • Communicate and consult with colleagues and other agencies
  • Plan and deliver agreed areas of work
  • Record, review and evaluate agreed areas of work
  • Demonstrate an on-going commitment to practice and professional development
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage children and families to assess levels of risk, strengths and need.
  • Engage children and secure their co-operation in exploring risk, strengths, interests, ambitions and needs
  • Work in partnership with children and families through thei! r involvement in the decision-making processes
  • Commun! icate and consult with colleagues and other agencies
  • Develop a working knowledge of the youth justice system and other systems that impact on the child
  • Work in the context of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Identify and consult with all relevant agencies to assist in the development of assessments of risk, strengths and need
  • Negotiate on behalf of children and families top access appropriate services that reduce risk and meet need
  • Develop a working knowledge
  • Plan and deliver agreed areas or work.
  • Plan appropriate individual interventions based on assessed levels of risk, strengths and need
  • Offer a range of interventions, methods and skills informed by an understanding of theory and research
  • Keep records in line with Agency and Statutory requirements
  • Be involved in the planning and implementation of community initiatives
  • Work closely with other agencies and organisations to plan and ! deliver programmes
  • Be involved in planning, implementation and facilitation of residential programmes
Record, review and evaluate agreed areas of work.
  • Contribute to the review and evaluation of individualised programmes of intervention
  • Contribute to the overall evaluation of models of service delivery
  • Demonstrate an on-going commitment to practice and professional development.
  • Work to the standards, policies and procedures and practice guidelines
  • Be accountable to the Agency through supervision for practice delivery
  • Demonstrate on-going commitment to professional learning and development
  • Use the support and experience of colleagues and others to develop practice
  • Support and encourage the development of practice of other staff
  • Participate, as required, in staff development and performance appraisal
  • Adhere to the NI Social Care Council's Code of Practice
  • GENERAL
    • Be available to work flexibly and at times appr! opriate to the changing needs of children and families and for the efficient use of staff resources
    • Safeguard the health and safety of children on the premises and when they are engaged in authorised activities elsewhere
    • Comply with all regulations relating to the supervision of children, health and safety and security
    • Perform in accordance with any directions that may be reasonably given to them

    Hold a Professional Social Worker Qualification, Degree in Social Work, Diploma in Social Work
    • Currently registered with NISCC
    • Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant will b! e required to have Access NI Enhanced Clearance (cost to applicant).
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
    • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
