AD: EPT and AD: EPT 2 (Throughcare) drug and alcohol services are multi-component addictions services based in the three establishments of the Northern Ireland Prison Service. AD: EPT 2 is a new service funded by the Big Lottery Fund and has secured funding for a 4 year period.

Assistant Manager (Ref: AM/0913)

Salary: OY pts 33 35 (£28,127 - £29,528), plus environmental allowance

Hours: 37 hours per week

Responsible To: Chief Executive

Reports to: Service Delivery Manager

Base: Varied - the post holder will be required to split their time between Maghaberry, Magilligan and Hydebank and will also be required to travel province wide to meet the needs of service users.

Background to the project:
AD: EPT and AD: EPT 2 (Throughcare) drug and alcohol service is a multi-component addictions service based in the three establishments! of the Northern Ireland Prison Service.

AD: EPT drug! and alcohol service aims to address the drug and alcohol issues of service users of all age groups through a variety of interventions including casework, group work and counselling. AD: EPT 2 aims to support service users in the difficult transitional period between custody and the community. It has a particular focus on problem alcohol users.

Background to the role:
The AD: EPT 2 Assistant Manager alongside the AD: EPT Assistant Manager and colleagues will assist the Manager to successfully deliver a range of services to enable peers to re enter the wider community without recourse to alcohol and drug abuse and offending.
To successfully implement the care plan of each individual peer who is participating on the programme.
To ensure the efficient running of the programme and to contribute to its development.
The competencies for this role have been taken from Drugs and Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS), Custodial Care a! nd Voluntary Sector Skills units.

Essential Criteria:
Hold a minimum of Diploma level in counselling and working towards BACP accreditation or a minimum Diploma in Social Work, Youth Work, Nursing, Teaching OR relevant third level qualification.
Three years full time experience working with vulnerable clients in a similar role, one of which must include supervisory /management experience.
A minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience working with young people and adults with drug and alcohol misuse problems.
Have experience and expertise in using behaviour change interventions.
Have experience and expertise in working with multi-disciplinary teams.
Have experience and expertise in working with co-working partnerships with relevant statutory and voluntary services.
Experience and knowledge of care planning.
Experience and expertise in individual case management.
Experience and expertise in group facilitation.
Effectiv! e communication skills both oral and written, including the ability to ! be diplomatic, polite, firm, and tactful
Good organisational skills and be able to prioritise
Ability to work under pressure, adapt and respond to changing demands and time deadlines
Computer literacy using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Current full driving licence (valid for use in the UK) (This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by Opportunity Youth, which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post)

The successful applicants for all vacancies will be subject to an Enhanced Access NI Check and Prison Clearance.

A waiting list (valid for 12 months) will be drawn up from these interviews for any similar vacancies within AD: EPT or AD: EPT 2 that may arise in the future.

All posts are 37 hours per week (unless otherwise stated) and may include evening work and occasional weekends, which will! be paid on a TOIL basis.

All posts are dependent on continued funding.
