Do you want to be part of the store or the creative universe?
About Sister Laura
Sister Laura is a new secondhand shop in Viborg, which will open soon. Here you can find hand-picked second-hand clothes and selected small furniture and trinkets. Sister Laura is a creative universe where volunteers give old items new life. That is why you can also find unique, handmade products that are produced in the store's affiliated workshops.
Sister Laura's volunteers upcycle products in the store's creative workshops, which are made exclusively from recycled materials. The volunteers create new goods in small numbers and of high quality.
A circular approach
Our ambition at Sister Laura is to rethink the traditional idea of linear consumption. We strive to create a circular approach, in order to use the resources in the individual materials as best as possible and for the greatest benefit.
Sister Laura's volunteers
Sister Laura is run by volunteers. We are people with different backgrounds and resources who each contribute to the community in their own way. We want to create a viable place where people can be part of a safe and spacious community, and where the individual feels seen and met regardless of challenges and resources.
The creative universe
In the store you will find workshops where the focal point is upcycling. We strive to be as sustainable as possible, and the volunteers collaborate to find the best and most productive methods to transform, among other things, textiles into more up-to-date products. In this way, we contribute to more sustainable consumption.
Textile workshop
In the textile workshop, textiles and fabric scraps are transformed into, among other things, for unique bags, toiletry bags and children's dresses.
In addition, there are volunteers who embroider, knit and crochet out of leftover yarn, which is, for example, transformed into sofa cushions, dishcloths, crocheted teddy bears, etc.
Paper workshop
We work with paper, where old wallpaper, books and sheet music are transformed into beautiful paper stars, boxes, beautiful hangings, etc.
Upcoming workshops
We dream of even more workshops associated with Sister Laura. If you are interested in working with upcycling within wood, metal, leather, ceramics or other materials, please contact the store.
Sister Laura's volunteers - do you want to join the community?
Sister Laura is a newly started shop which will open during the summer of 2023. There are many opportunities to become part of the shop or the associated workshops. Regular courses, creative workshops and inspiration evenings are held for the various work groups, so that all volunteers are well prepared for the tasks.
The store
As a volunteer in the store, you are part of a shift schedule, and here you are responsible for customer service as well as ongoing replenishment and display in the store.
Pickup of goods
The volunteers pick up donated goods from private individuals and businesses on a fixed day of the week. There is also the option of regular collection and emptying of estates by agreement. A car is provided and the possibility to drive with a partner.
Product sorting and pricing
The volunteers are part of a working group that collaborates in teams to sort and price the donated goods, which are continuously replenished in the store.
Upcycling in workshops
In the workshops, you can enter into a creative community with others, immerse yourself in a craft and contribute to the production of handmade goods, which are made exclusively from recycled materials. It does not require any special prerequisites to become part of our workshops, as there are tasks for all levels. We collaborate and learn from each other.
Social Media
As responsible for our SoMe, the volunteers are responsible for managing the store's Instagram and Facebook profile. Pictures of goods and our voluntary work are taken on an ongoing basis, as well as targeted advertising.
Store management
We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about being co-creators of an alternative recycling concept with a focus on community and sustainability. The tasks involve, among other things, daily operations, shift planning and volunteer care.
We are looking forward to hear from you!
